In anticipation of this weekend’s Reno Decom: Metropolypse Now! we present the second to last Dusty Couture/BRC 2010 Virtual Fashion Video. This one features more friends as well as friends of friends.
The styles being rocked speak for themselves once again but the next and final installment will feature a commentary track by our very own Dusty Bacon! See you at Decom this weekend and remember: Reno’s Decom goes ALL NIGHT LONG 
Last weekend, we attended our first Great Handcar Regatta in Santa Rosa, CA after hearing numerous accounts of how utterly fantastic the event is. What we’d heard and seen from afar did nothing to prepare us for the double barreled blast of steamy magic that showered us all the day long.
Despite the recorded 97 degree high temperature that day, ourselves and numerous well-dressed steampunks, bike punks, dandies, debutantes, and other assorted costumed multitudes enjoyed ourselves and one another immensely. We hope that this introductory video will allow you to glean at a least a taste of the wonder and amazement we experienced while sharing in the music, fashion (this year’s theme was “India and Beyond“), vending, sideshows, and of course, the Regatta Rail Racers themselves.
We shot a boxcar-load of footage and have been graciously allowed access to use Nemea Laessig aka Lady Cordelia Dashitall’s excellent photos from the event (also her first year) as well as several other photographers (who will be mentioned as their pictures get used in the upcoming videos) so needless to say this is part one of a trilogy of videos reporting on this tremendous event!
Welcome to the second installment of the DustyCouture.Com Virtual Fashion Show! We hope you enjoyed the Reno “Rough Edit” and are pleased to deliver more playalicious fun now.
This video finishes with some great hooping footage from Spin Cycle’s annual all-star hoop jam. We love the costumes that hoopers wear and it’s amazing that they still allow for the hoop to maneuver all over their body.
We shot enough footage on playa this year for a total of four of these Vfash videos: the first one mentioned above, this one, a “Friends of Friends” edition, and a personal favorites reel which will feature a commentary track by Dusty Bacon. There’s also some handcar regatta vids from last weekend coming your way so stay tuned for lots more!
For Dusty’s birthday we decided to take an immediate post-burnalicious un-decompressed Steampunk adventure aboard an actual steam locomotive on the historic & recently restored Virginia Truckee Rail Line.
In attendance are ladies and gentlemen from the Sacramento Steampunk Society, the Great Basin Costume Society, and several steamy Bay Area contingents. We had costumed fun all throughout the day and the rail workers and patrons especially loved us. If you haven’t ridden on a steam-train before you really should partake! *Important Notes: All the ragtime music for this video was provided by the unparalleled piano playing force that is Squeek Steele. Many of the pictures in the slide-shows were taken by Lady Cordelia Dashitall aka Nemea, Douglas Hack, and Laura Hack.
We shot loads of footage of BRCitizens in their well-put together ensembles on playa this year. Wherever we encountered a willing participant we had them throw down and walk the runway right then and there.
This is a rough edit of our forthcoming Virtual Fashion Show that we are still putting the finishing touches on. This version or edition features our local Reno crew struttin’ their stuff on the virtual catwalk. It debuted at the yearly September Bday Tri-Fecta last Saturday night to much fanfare. Enjoy.
An extra special treat has already been released from this year’s Burn for our utmost enjoyment. Stefan and the GrooveHoops! crew have created the BEST 2010 Burning Man YouTube video. I know I’m declaring the winner in this race a tad bit early but check out the goods and I think you’ll agree.
As some of you know we’re working on a DustyCouture.Com virtual fashion show video project filled with footage of folks at the burn this year. We’re a little worried at having to follow this awesome vid but are overall still excited!!! We just completed a rough draft of the virtual fashion show and the test audience loved it. You’ll all be able to enjoy it soon!
All summer I’ve had this video on my mind. It was shot just a short while before the Great San Francisco Earthquake and what it captures is incredible.
In addition to illustrating a host of spectacular turn of the century fashions, the chaos of Market St. with it’s hustle and bustle, bikes, carts, and other vehicles echoes the busier streets of our fair desert City of Black Rock. Enjoy and expect some Steampunk follow ups regarding our birthday SteamTrain adventure & our coverage of the 3rd Annual Hand Cart Regatta.
We’ve finally made it back from another EXTREME year on the Playa. As most of you know the weather was everywhere from wet & cold as fcuk to hot like blazes.
We got some good footage for you though and will be rolling out the catwalk on our virtual fashion show project (we had burners in their awesome outfits walking the runway wherever we found them.) Til then, hope you enjoy our little vid of the double rainbow that followed Monday’s rainstorm. It’s one of many that are being uploaded as we speak but unlike the others this one is sarcasm free ;}
