A Candid Survey Of Burner Style 2009

Worried that you won’t be dressed appropriately just cause you don’t have time or money for the Burner ensemble of your dreams?  Take a look at this vid and remind yourself of what people walking the streets of BRC actually look like during the day and night.

James Mahood posted this wonderfully candid survey of Burning Man fashions shot at random during the 2009 burn on his YouTube channel.  Hopefully he will have more for us at the end of this year’s burn!

  1. This is so true… I was very worried about being so underdressed my first burn, but ended up not wearing 3/4 of what I brought, opting instead for the same bra and skirt for daytime the first 4 days, screwing the skirt and just wearing the top and pretty underwear after that. Nighttime usually saw me just throwing on my legwarmers and fur coat on top of my daytime clothes. Towards the end of the week, I found myself in a few boutique shops, and ended up picking up some AWESOME Burner clothes there!

Next year: hand-knit thongs and bras for day. Steampunkery and crazy coats by night.

I love your site! I hear you have a DP DVD? I would totally love a copy! LOL… now DP can be playing at MY rocket ship! :P

Moonlight Seedling, Burning Man is “where plans go to die” including the simplest of plans such as: what I’m going to wear. And yet some of us manage to consistently spend 10 to 100 minutes getting ready before we go out receiving thanks and other acknowledgments of the effect our fashion-centric art is having on those around us. I felt like the effort was appreciated when I dressed up to venture out each and every time this week as the virtual fashion show video I am editing will demonstrate.

I most certainly do have a bootleg copy of the fan produced video of Daft Punk’s PROPHETIC 2007 ALIVE show. Email me DustyBacon(at)DustyCouture(dot)Com with your address ;)

PS – Did we meet on the Purple Palace Monday night of this year?
